July 23 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Change of plans! We’ve had messages from would-be attendees letting us know they can’t make the July session. So instead, we’re postponing this month and we’ll pick up a few sessions in September to prep for a performance in October! (Anyone who already booked a July ticket has be refunded.) Keep your eyes peeled and follow Southern Gothic Choral Club on Facebook for updates.
Who are Southern Gothic?
Southern Gothic Choral Club is an adults only, horror-themed singing workshop created in spring/summer 2023. Monthly sessions are held on Sundays 1-4pm at the Erin Arts Centre (without an audience), with a view to spin-off live performances later in the year. Experienced & virgin singers are welcome to join us to work on exclusive vocal arrangements and help us shape the finished piece.
What have we done before?
In May we covered Howl by Florence & The Machine with a touch of In For The Kill by La Roux (complete with actual howling soloist!), then June was a Pride month mash-up of Halsey, Billie Eilish & Sam Smith with a Bang Bang bassline from Jessie J.
What are we doing now?
In July, we’re delving into horror-folk! We’ll be man-handling a well known pop song into a traditional sea shanty style, so we’re looking for a wide range of voices from mermaids & sirens to salty sea dogs.
You can book your seat for £5, which goes directly to the Erin Arts Centre for the rent of their gorgeous church-turned-theatre and printing costs for sheet music.
