We had so much fun at last year’s inaugural event that Port Erin Jazz Festival is back! (October 7th- 8th) 2022
This event is being staged across 3 venues – The Erin Arts Centre, The Bay Hotel and The Falcon’s Nest Hotel and features a mixture of international jazz stars and home-grown talent.
Sposored by Ravenscroft, with help from: Bushy’s, Fynoderee, Greenlight TV, Carters, IOM Steam Packet.
The year was 1922. The world was recovering from the First World War and the Spanish Flu pandemic. As people came together again, so began the start of what we now know as the ‘Roaring 20s’, a remarkable period in history that saw one of the greatest flourishing of music, art, literature, and architecture. People socialising and audiences filling theatres again were a “symbol of returning to life”.
To mark 100 years of the ‘first jazz age’, multi-award-winning guitarist Martin Taylor MBE and Scottish-Canadian jazz singer Alison Burns embark on their first duo tour in five years. Taylor and Burns present a concert of jazz songs from the Roaring 20s by composers including Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin and George and Ira Gershwin. Tuxedos and fascinators are optional for this evening of uplifting jazz!
Expect some special guests dropping in for a jam!
Support comes from local favourites The Blue Train Big Band, guaranteed to raise the roof!
