We’re opening this season’s Piano Series with a very special talent. Do not miss!
Minkyu Kim was born in South Korea in 1995. He studied pianoforte with Soo-Jeong Jeong at Goyang High School of Arts and with Hyung-Joon Chang and Sehee Kim at Seoul National University, as well as harpsichord with Joohee Oh. After graduating summa cum laude in 2017, he began his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on a full scholarship from the ABRSM. Whilst studying for his MMus, he has received a number of internal and external prizes, including the first prizes of the Bamber Galloway Piano Competition, the BPSE intercollegiate competition, and the Liszt Society Competition.
He is currently studying for a Doctor of Performance at the RCS with Professor Aaron Shorrand Sinae Lee on a full scholarship. As a pianist, he has performed several recitals in Korea and the UK. As a music scholar, he has recently taken over much of the editing of the Liszt Society Journal, and is preparing a complete thematic catalogue of works of Franz Liszt with Dr. Leslie Howard and Aidan Módica.
