The Quiet Girl , An Cailín Ciúin, is an Irish coming-of-age film written and directed by Colm Bairead.
Set in 1981, in County Waterford, the film follows Cait, a withdrawn nine-year-old girl, sent by her neglectful parents to live with distant relatives.
As the long, hot summer progresses with the endlessness of childhood, Cait gradually blossoms, discovering a magical new world to explore.
This beautiful and compassionate film from a first-time feature director, is a child’s-eye look at our fallen world and already feels like a classic.
Dialogue is mainly spoken in Irish with English subtitles.
