Friday Film Club open’s its doors for the new season with this epic journey of self discovery set in the breathtaking Italian Alps.
The Eight Mountains follows over four decades the profound and complex relationship between Pietro and Bruno, who meet as children and share an idyllic summer in the outdoor playground of the mountains.
Directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch, who adapted the screenplay from the novel of the same name by Paolo Cognetti, the film premiered at Cannes and won the Jury Prize.
Sweeping and novelistic in scope, The Eight Mountains combines the earthy, rooted grit of Jack London with the vivid emotional landscapes of Elena Ferrante and spins a moving tale of friendship and loss.
“A movie with air in its lungs and love in it’s heart” – The Guardian
