Opening hours: 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Friday plus during events
The Isle of Man is set to witness a remarkable artistic evolution as the newly formed collective, the Manx Artful Dodgers, announces their upcoming exhibition, “Mysteries of Light and Shadow.” This exciting event will take place from 10th January 2025 at the renowned Erin Art Centre. Originating from a shared passion for oil painting, these creative individuals began their artistic journey under the inspiring guidance of local artist Anna Clucas.
Each member of the Manx Artful Dodgers has embarked on a transformative exploration of techniques rooted in the rich history of art. Drawing inspiration from the colonial painting modes of the Renaissance, the group has embraced the expressive techniques of sfumato and chiaroscuro. These methods allow them to create depth and luminosity in their work, evoking a profound emotional resonance that captivates viewers. The artists have also delved into the distinctive styles of notable masters such as Gustav Klimt and Franz Marc, blending their modern interpretations with iconic elements that celebrate both beauty and abstraction.
“Mysteries of Light and Shadow” promises to be a captivating showcase of the diverse artistic visions within the Manx Artful Dodgers. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a collection of works that not only demonstrate technical prowess but also convey a deep sense of story and individuality.
Join us in celebrating this unique convergence of talent that honours the past while eagerly stepping into the future of contemporary art. Don’t miss your chance to witness a remarkable artistic journey that promises to inspire and evoke thought in all who attend.
