Following their sellout performance at the Erin Arts Centre last year, the boys are back in town! Mine’s a Shanty return to the EAC on Friday 6th September this year for another evening of unaccompanied singing with a nautical flavour.
Their programme this year will include a variety of well-known and less familiar sea songs, new numbers and a few items with a particularly Manx connection, including King of the Sea. There might even be one or two original homespun tunes, along with a couple of numbers which have been programmed to mark the two-hundredth anniversary of the RNLI.
All this along with a free tot of rum and Fishermen’s Friends for all landlubbers!
Mine’s a Shanty are six men, all born and bred on the Island, who have been friends for many years but first came together as a shanty group about three years ago. They bring a wide range of musical backgrounds and a strong sense of fun to their performances, and like to combine their music with some information about the history and background of the songs.
This is a General Admission event with cabaret style table seating.
