What a brilliant weekend we had here at EAC for Young Singer 2024! We had a record 44 competitors across the two classes, from age 7-17. There was a wide range of voices, songs, styles and experience, and all the singers gave a great account of themselves and should be very proud.
Here more in Christy DeHaven’s podcast here: https://www.manxradio.com/podcasts/one-to-three/episode/ysom24/
Both days were close to sell-out and there was a fantastic, supportive atmosphere in the room. We hope all the singers enjoyed their day and gained some valuable experience.
Special thanks to Madeline Kelly who accompanied all the competitors, familiarising herself with about 80 songs!
Many thanks to the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer for stepping up to present the prizes on Sunday.
Thanks to our adjudicators Angela Stewart, Jane Corkill, Christy DeHaven and Chris Sullivan for giving their time and expertise.
Thanks to last year’s winner Eve Puzzar for her thrilling rendition of She Used To Be Mine from Waitress.
Thanks to all the EAC volunteers who helped the event run so smoothly.
The competition was kindly sponsored by the IOM Arts Council, with cash prizes courtesy of the Malcolm Dickinson trust and spot prizes courtesy of Mannin Music Shop.
