The EAC Jazz Club opens its doors to 2024 with three red hot local outfits!
Blue Vannin have been on the Manx music scene now since 2017. They played the inaugural EAC Jazz Club gig in 2021 and it is an absolute pleasure to welcome them back!
The line up of musicians has changed over the years but the ensemble remains committed to encouraging jazz on the Island, performing regularly for charity and community events. One of the benefits of changing personnel is that the set list is constantly evolving and Blue Vannin will be performing a new set on 24th February, with the emphasis being on more melodic compositions under the direction of piano player John Stillman. With new tunes, vocal arrangements plus their signature blend of jazz, funk and crossover, this promises to be an entertaining show!
During the last three years this band has been announced as The Heinrich Manoovre, The Henrich Manouver and even The Heiniken Man Hoover … but whatever the name, the music’s the same: Blues, Jazz, Swing, Funk and New Orleans Rhythm & Blues. During their “early years” some band members have played in Brussels (for the Belgian King), at the Montreux Jazz Festival, opened for The Blues Brothers Band and played a full season in a Butlins Holiday Camp.
The Heinrich Manoeuvre is a trio with keyboard/vocals, drums and bass, plus a wide variety of local greats as guest stars, which keeps the repertoire fresh and the music exciting. At the EAC they will play some of the jazzier stuff from their repertoire, with special guests including Chrissie Eve on vocals.
Lauren Gray and Mark Burows will open the show with a guitar and vocal set, stripping jazz back right back to a mellow, acoustic sound.
