Original spoken word theatrical group, Penny Productions, present Asila’s Song and other spectacular tales.
An evening to ignite your senses!
This celebratory show marks the official launch of the publication of the one-woman poetic play, Asila’s Song. It is also an opportunity to witness this dark and dangerous ghost story being performed by the author herself, triple Manx Litfest Poetry Slam Champion, Jackie Morrey-Grace.
Jackie will be joined on the evening by a whole host of fabulous Penny performers.
These include some other well-known Manx Litfest Poetry and Short Story Slam Champs – Georgia Lisette and Kim Kneen.
Current Manx Bard, Owen Atkinson, will also be performing, alongside previous Bard, Annie Kissack.
Penny’s own personal Bard – and Bard in his own right! Bill Strutt, will also provide some colour to the evening as will Maire Stephens and local a Capella folk singer, Simon Smart.
In addition to this… (drum roll!), the evening will feature the opportunity to view the short, Culture Vannin commissioned poetry film, ‘Wonders Never Cease,’ by internationally acclaimed poet and film maker, Janet Lees. This will be aired alongside Jackie’s poetic response to the film – ‘Mesmer’ in micro-play form.
‘Asila’s Song’ is Jackie’s second poetry publication. The first is entitled ‘On Ravensdale Hill’. Both books have been funded by the Isle of Man Arts Council and signed copies of each (priced £10), will be available for purchase on the evening. £2 from each sale goes to Manx Wild Bird Aid.
The bar will be open on the evening with light refreshments available. All in all, this spectacular evening promises to bring together some of the Island’s best performance writers and is not to be missed!
